CSAwesome Research Project
New to CSA Teachers
Are you a teacher transitioning from teaching AP CSP to AP CSA? Will you be teaching AP CS A for the first time? Are you new to Java programming?
Research Project Funding
Those who apply for and receive research participant funding for the CSAwesome research project will attend a CSAwesome professional development (PD) for FREE (up to $2,400 cost waived).

Research Project Eligibility
High school teacher AND
have previously taught the AP CSP course AND
are planning to offer CS A in the 2023-24 academic year AND
are new/inexperienced with the Advanced Placement CS A framework AND
are new/inexperienced with Java programming and similar text-based languages AND
be a U.S. teacher per National Science Foundation requirements AND
agree to work to meet research requirements during the PD and academic year.
Important notes:
Priority will be given to teachers applying from high schools that are Public and/or Title I.
Research participant funding is non-transferable and not school-based. Individual teachers should submit an application.
At this time, we do not currently have any research participant funding available for non U.S. teachers.
Please email info@csawesome.org if you do not meet the research project eligibity requirements, but require financial assistance to participate in CSAwesome PD.

Application Process
Interested teachers should first complete our Research Participant Application form (link).
You will NOT be able to Save and Continue the form.
We recommend allotting 10-15 minutes to complete the application.
Once completed and submitted, someone from the team will be in contact with you within 2-3 weeks regarding your application.
Research participant applicants should wait to register and submit their deposit after they have received a decision.
Deposits
All research participants will be required to submit a $50.00 deposit to reserve their spot in the PD. Deposits are submitted through Eventbrite and are due one month before the PD begins. Research participants who complete the PD and receive a certificate of participation will have their deposit refunded. If necessary, teachers may request a deposit waiver.
CSAwesome Scholarships (non-Research)

are new/inexperienced with the Advanced Placement CS A framework AND
are new/inexperienced with Java programming and similar text-based languages.

Note: If you are applying for a scholarship to attend the Pathfinders Summer Institute, you will need to complete both the Pathfinders application and the CSAwesome scholarship application.
